Hi, I'm Szen.
I currently live in Cambridge, UK and I'm pursuing my PhD in Biological Sciences as a Wellcome Trust Clincal PhD Fellow supervised by Dr. Mathew Garnett at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. I'm also supervised by Dr. Sam Behjati.
Key research areas of interest I'm actively involved in:
- Cancer biology & genomics. Cancer cellular plasticity and its relation to therapeutic resistance to targeted inhibitors.
- Single-cell profiling technologies. Applying, scaling, and optimizing single-cell technologies and multiplexed assays to profile tumour organoids.
- Perturbation data analysis and modeling. Developing computational strategies to analyse high-dimensional scRNA-seq perturbation datasets.
Previously, I've worked on multiple projects including drug response modeling with unsupervised machine learning, developing mobile apps for cancer variant annotation, clinical research on small-cell lung cancer, long non-coding RNAs, and gene editing. More information about featured publications can be found in the page here.
On the side, I co-founded the MedTech Sheffield society and led it as President for 2 years. I led my team to twice organize the HackMed hackathon. If you're interested in my work, please reach out to me!
